A most important aspect of a company’s success is, undoubtedly, its employees. According to Tomas Kybartas, the CEO of WelldoneTK, finding a suitable candidate and forming an agile team are two quite different tasks. “Work experience and knowledge alone is not enough to become a good team player. Certain personal qualities are also necessary,” Tomas Kybartas says.
Staff selection is your daily task. How do you choose your employees?
Firstly, I do not work alone – I work with my team. Secondly, we cooperate closely with our clients and really dedicate our time to finding out their requirements and expectations. The specialisation of WelldoneTK is installing garage doors and ramps, which means that most of the time we are on the lookout for a team – for two people. It is a challenge because a skilled member of staff may not necessarily be a good team player.
If a person lacks relevant door installation experience, can he become part of the team at WelldoneTK?
Although experience is a great asset, personal qualities are of greatest importance, just as I mentioned before. We pay attention to the candidate’s personal responsibility, openness towards new experience and his friendly character. We have a very good example when we invited a young guy onboard of our team. He had no practice of installing doors, but he was very quick at learning and improving. After a month, when we asked him how things were going, he said: “You don’t need to be a genius to install doors, but you need to make an effort to understand the process”. Well, he nailed it.
